Biography and witness
Joan of Arc was a French peasant girl who believed she was called by God to aid Charles VII during the Hundred Years' War. She rallied French troops, helped lift the siege of Orleans, was captured and condemned, and died at the stake in 1431. The Church later annulled her trial, and she was canonized in 1920.
