First Reading

Galatians 3:22-29

How to approach it

Read this as the first big movement of the day. Notice what God is doing, who is speaking, and what part of the story or teaching should stay with you.

22But the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise, by the faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to them that believe.

23But before the faith came, we were kept under the law shut up, to that faith which was to be revealed.

24Therefore the law was our pedagogue in Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25But after the faith is come, we are no longer under a pedagogue.

26For you are all the children of God by faith, in Christ Jesus.

27For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ, have put on Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek: there is neither bond nor free: there is neither male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29And if you be Christ's, then are you the offspring of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.

Psalm

Psalm 105:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

How to pray it

The psalm is meant to be prayed, not rushed. If the wording feels older, focus on the main movement of the prayer: trust, praise, sorrow, gratitude, or hope.

2Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wonderful works.

3Glory you in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

4Seek you the Lord, and be strengthened: seek his face evermore.

5Remember his marvellous works which he has done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.

6OH you offspring of Abraham his servant; you sons of Jacob his chosen.

7He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

Gospel

Luke 11:27-28

What to watch for

The Gospel is the center of the reading set. Pay close attention to what Jesus says, what Jesus does, and what response he is asking for.

27And it happened, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the paps that gave you suck.

28But he said: Yea rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.
