Nació en Venecia el año 1486. Abandonó la carrera de las armas para consagrarse al servicio de los pobres entre quienes distribuyó sus bienes. Fundó la Orden de los Clérigos Regulares de Somasca, para socorrer a los niños huérfanos y pobres. Murió en Somasca (Bérgamo) el año 1537.
