En Grenoble, en Burgundia, san Hugo, obispo, que se esforzó en la reforma de las costumbres del clero y del pueblo, y siendo amante de la soledad, durante su episcopado ofreció a san Bruno, maestro suyo en otro tiempo, y a sus compañeros, el lugar de la Cartuja, que presidió cual primer abad, rigiendo durante cuarenta años esta Iglesia con esmerado ejemplo de caridad.
