En Tarragona, en Hispania, san Hermenegildo, mártir, que siendo hijo de Leovigildo, rey arriano de los visigodos, fue convertido a la fe católica por san Leandro, obispo de Sevilla, y recluido en la cárcel por disposición de su padre al haberse negado a recibir la comunión de manos de un obispo arriano, el día de la fiesta de Pascua fue degollado por mandato de su propio padre.
