En París, ciudad de la Galia (hoy Francia), santa Genoveva, virgen de Nanterre, que a los quince años, aconsejada por el obispo Germán de Auxerre, tomó el velo de las vírgenes. Animó a los habitantes de la ciudad, temerosos por las incursiones de los hunos, y ayudó a sus conciudadanos en tiempo de hambre (c. 500).
