San Anselmo, obispo y doctor de la Iglesia, que, nacido en Aosta, fue monje y abad del monasterio de Bec, en Normandía, enseñando a los hermanos a caminar por la vía de la perfección y a buscar a Dios por la comprensión de la fe. Promovido a la insigne sede de Canterbury, en Inglaterra, trabajó denodadamente por la libertad de la Iglesia, sufriendo por ello dificultades y destierros.
