Nació en 1474 en Italia y fundó la primera comunidad religiosa femenina para educar a niñas. Quedó huérfana cuando aún era muy niña, se hizo Terciaria Franciscana y fundó la Comunidad de Hermanas Ursulinas en 1535, que se extendió por muchas partes. Fue considerada una gran líder de mujeres y la canonizaron en 1807.
